ICFF 2010: Design Infestation in Noho

Noho Design District was the first official collective coming-out party for the burgeoning home-design district of Bond and Great Jones Streets near the newly-shiny Bowery. The super-cool neighborhood bash–one among dozens of satellite events happening concurrently with International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) and New York Design Week–was produced and curated by the editors of design publication Sight Unseen.

The event was loads of fun (many crates of Macallan Scotch helped keep things flowing) and by all accounts a banging success. In addition to all the covetable objets on display including lighting, tableware, handmade bicycles, furniture and much more, notable highlights included "industrial" s'mores (a blowtorch did the melting duty),
live music by street jazz band Baby Soda

and the lamp below (and above),

made of taxidermied rats (which were actually kind of adorable in a very strange way). Sadly, we weren't allowed to touch it. The lamp and its squirrel-based compadres were created by British bespoke lighting designer Alexandra Randall and featured at The Future Perfect design shop and gallery at 55 Great Jones Street.
See more at the event's site, and Metropolis has more pics and peeks from the party and other Design Week events.
